IoT: Coming to a retailer near you
IoT: is the concept of basically connecting any device with an on and off switch to the Internet (and/or to each other). This includes everything from cellphones, coffee makers, washing machines, headphones, lamps, wearable devices.
Examples in retail: Smart mirrors, smart shelves, dash button, in-store beacons, in-store interactive signage, robots. The use case in retail is growing and having a greater impact each quarter.
Back to the Future is finally here! (sort of)
Nike’s long-awaited HyperAdapt 1.0, its self-lacing shoe, will debut in select U.S. stores on Nov. 28, the Monday after Thanksgiving (aka Cyber Monday), and will be available exclusively to members of the Nike+ loyalty program. To see it, customers must schedule an appointment first.
An interesting move to set focus on their stores, rather than the frenzy that will be taking place online that day.
Nordstrom ruling by committee
Another management shift in Nordstrom. Co-presidents Erik Nordstrom and Blake Nordstrom have changed some of their responsibilities. In addition, Ken Worzel, EVP of strategy and development, has been elevated to president of Nordstrom.com.
What impact will this have on agility? Important decisions that sometimes need to be made quickly and swiftly.
